About Vinyl Deck & Railing Products What makes Deck Lok Cool to Walk On? Deck Lok is 100% Virgin Vinyl. It contains no recycled material as do a lot of composite decking material on the market today. Composites contain a variety of recycled material, such as wood chips & recycled plastic, that are pressed together. Since wood is a conductor of heat, composites get hot when they are in the sun. Plastic is not a conductor of heat, so Deck Lok stays cool enough to walk on. Is Vinyl Durable and Will It Last? Not all vinyl is the same quality. Vinyl comes in different grades much like wood comes in grades. There is low, medium, and high-end vinyl. Both the product's ingredients and its process determine its quality level. The ingredients in Deck Lok are pure and not "watered down" with any other pre-used materials. Special chemicals that give it maximum strength, flexibility, and UV protection are mixed and tri-excruded to create this "High End" product that can be purchased at a reasonable price. The quickest way to help you decide which product will hold up over time, is to pay close attention to the product's warranty. Otherwise, unless you are a chemist, you could spend months educating yourself on the chemical make up of the hundreds of products on the market today. Who has that kind of time? Deck Lok comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty. How does Deck-Lok compare to composites? Composites still don't solve the problems associated with wood, but Deck-Lok does. Problems such as: too hot to walk on, color fading, exposed fasteners, and bowing are still eventually going to happen to composites. With Deck-Lok you have a maintenance-free, problem-free product to enjoy the rest of your life. What about the "shine" that Deck-Lok has? The "shine" goes away after about 2-3 months.
